If you’re going to spend your day sampling the best craft beer and cider in Ontario, you need some good food to go with it. Hamilton has an abundance of champion food trucks, and we are always happy to have some of the best join us for the weekend. At the 2016 edition of Because Beer, festival-goers will be able to choose from a dozen food vendors:

  • Bombero’s Gourmet Nachos  Crispy, crunchy tortilla chips heaped with fresh, mouth-watering gourmet toppings — plus cold bottles of Jarritos soda and Mexican Coca-Cola  V
  • Curbside Burgers (Saturday only)  Gourmet burgers, falafel burgers, sandwiches and sides (including an array of fries — crispy sweet potato or Yukon gold home fries, as well as deep-fried avocado fries)  V
  • Gorilla Cheese  Canada’s first grilled cheese truck serves up delicious, award-winning gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, fresh-cut fries and more — even a mascarpone-fuelled dessert variation  V
  • MeatVentures Meat Wagon  Specializing in house-cured, hardwood smoked carnivorous treats, MeatVentures serves up crowd faves such as the Bacon Fatty, Tocino Sliders and Candied Bacon Crème Brulée
  • Reardon’s Hot Dog & Sausage Cart  Reardon’s has been serving great hot dogs and sausages on Hamilton streets for almost 30 years and is is the proud descendant of Reardon’s Meat Market, a dynasty dating back to 1912  V
  • Rudy’s Paletas  Small-batch, all-natural vegan paletas and coconut milk-based vegan ice cream (and vegan ice cream sandwiches). Dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free — free from artificial anything. Only the best ingredients make it to the mix  V+
  • The Salted Pig  You guessed it: The Salted Pig is all about bacon. Head chef and owner Brett Liersch’s passion for food & service comes from over two decades of experience in the food industry
  • Southern Smoke Truck  Hamilton’s first and only authentic wood-fired barbecue food truck, Southern Smoke specializes in stick-smoked barbecue, southern-style brisket, pulled pork, chicken and southern sides  V
  • Taco Queso  An authentic Mexican food trailer where everything is handmade, fresh to order. Enjoy traditional gourmet soft tacos, flautas, quesadillas, sensational salsas, churros, coffee and cold drinks   V+
  • TCS Poutinerie  This new entry, from the Tony’s Corner Streatery family (that’d be the TCS), caters to poutine fanatics, with their signature dish made using delicious, fresh-cut fries  V
  • Wrap-ture (Friday only)  100% whole wheat tortilla wraps stuffed with delicious fillings and toasted to perfection. Menus change regularly based on ingredient availability and inspiration  V

Beavertails and Corn Star Roasters  have had to cancel, with regrets.

At Because Beer 2015, Bruce Wood, Executive Chef at Beau’s Brewery, led an exclusive food and beer pairing in the Because Beer Speakers’ Tent.  As part of the Beau’s Tasting Menu session, Chef Wood served up two recipes paired with two of Beau’s beers — a quinoa and chive crepe with house smoked trout, pickled red onion, Skotidakis cream cheese and radishes paired with Kissmeyer Nordic Pale Ale; and ricotta and strawberry fritters with rye syrup paired with Beau’s award-winning summer seasonal, Festivale.
